Welcome
Capt Peter Turner, and his Yacht Asolare are participating in the inaugural "World ARC" staged by World Cruising Club. Having started in St Lucia on January 23rd our journey will take us through the Panama Canal across the Pacific Ocean and give us the opportunity to visit some of the most beautiful islands on the planet. Just have a look at our World ARC route!
Asolare was new in June 2007. She is an Amel 54 twin masted ketch and carries a suit of sails that includes an asymetric spinaker, a number of headsails, mainsails for both the main and mizzen masts and unusually a mizzen balooner which is a very effective spinaker for the mizzen mast.
Asolare made her maiden voyage from La Rochelle to Las Palmas in time for the start of the ARC in November 2007. The shake down sail saw fair weather and was largely uneventful. The Atlantic crossing proved to be much more of an adventure. Our ARC 2007 Log provides a humourous account of the highs lows and drama's of our crossing and makes for a good read!
We are very much looking forward to sailing with many friends and family during the course of World ARC, for those who would like to follow our progress we will be updating this website with our latest logs and pictures of our ventures throughout the year - so keep looking!
